Glass Brussels Fountain – in the National Technical Museum in Prague
The famous Brussels Fountain, which was made in 1958 according to a design by the academic painter Dana Hlobilova, is now on display after restoration at the National Technical Museum in Prague. The fountain consists of an oval pool with a stand and glass bowls that were made in the Kavalier Glassworks (today’s Kavalierglass, a.s.). After its creation, the fountain impressed many visitors at the 1958 Expo in Brussels, where Dana Hlobilová received an honorary diploma for it. It then travelled from the Expo to the exhibition of Czechoslovak glass in Moscow. After this exhibition, the earth fell away from it. It was found in 1964 and was installed in a park adjacent to the Art Gallery in Nitra. Eventually, the National Technical Museum in Prague took it over and had it completely restored. The glass bowls were again made in the glassworks in Sázava.
